In his latest project – “Pools”, the target of interest of the German photographer Stefan Zirves is one of the most respected and vital resources of the Earth – water.
In these aerial photos of the pools in southern Germany, he alludes to our tendency to privatize what is common to all.
The absence of distractions except small number of swimmers, is meant to fully focus on the pools themselves. Some of the pools are totally empty around, without people, without a point, serving only as aesthetic figures of otherwise impersonal environment.
“In most regions of the world,” said Zirves “these pools are reserved for private use and an enormous expenditure of drinking water. Public pools can still be important symbol of the importance that water should be free and accessible to everyone. ”
